Cutting-Edge Semiconductor Innovation on Display at This Year’s REWIRE IKC Showcase

Wednesday, 5th November 2025 | News

Leaders from academia, industry, and government gather to spotlight next-generation power electronics driving the UK’s net zero transition.

The REWIRE Innovation & Knowledge Centre (IKC), is proud to present its Annual Showcase in November, highlighting pioneering research, industry partnerships, and commercial pathways accelerating the UK’s progress toward net zero.

Semiconductors underpin virtually every modern device are central to breakthroughs in clean energy, electric mobility, renewable power systems, and quantum technologies. This year’s Showcase will present the latest advances from REWIRE’s multi-disciplinary teams, illustrating how the UK is advancing in this strategically critical domain.

Showcase highlights:

  • Ambition in Action: From ultra-fast EV charging and powering AI servers to revolutionary circular electronics, the technologies unveiled have the potential to redefine how we generate, distribute, and consume energy.
  • Collaboration at Scale: The Showcase brings together researchers, technology developers, policy makers and industry leaders, sharing insight and co-creating the direction of future programmes.
  • Strategic Impact: The REWIRE IKC serves as a focal point for translating power semiconductor R&D into tangible UK economic growth, supply chain resilience, and export opportunities.

Event details:

The Showcase will be held at The Slate, Warwick on 18th November, 2025. Attendees include representatives from universities, leading semiconductor firms, national research agencies, and government departments. You can register to attend via the RSVP form.

Featured contributions will come from:

  • Dr Dave Smith, National Technology Adviser (NTA) Department for Science, Innovation & Technology
  • Dr Dinesh Ramanathan, Onsemi Senior Vice President for Corporate Strategy
  • Rt. Hon Greg Clarke, Chair of Warwick Innovation District, University of Warwick
  • Professor Martin Kuball, Director and Dr Katie Hore, Innovation Director, REWIRE IKC, University of Bristol

“Semiconductors are vital for our net zero transition – powering everything from electric vehicles to renewable energy systems. The UK is a world leader in compound semiconductor innovation, and it’s fantastic to see this world-class technology in action here at REWIRE, driving our clean energy future.” – Dr. Dave Smith, National Technology Adviser

“REWIRE is about impact – turning world-class research into solutions that matter for people, planet, and prosperity, where academic excellence meets industrial ambition. This year’s Showcase is a testament to the UK’s leadership in power semiconductor innovation.” – Prof. Martin Kuball, University of Bristol

“We are proud to host this year’s REWIRE Showcase, which coincides with the University of Warwick’s 60th anniversary. We are delighted to welcome leading voices from industry, academia, and policy to celebrate REWIRE’s achievements over the past year.” – Prof. Peter Gammon, University of Warwick

The REWIRE IKC is co-delivered by the Universities of Bristol, Cambridge, and Warwick and is generously supported by a grant of £11million from UKRI. Together, the partners are accelerating the translation of advanced semiconductor research into real-world energy and power electronics solutions.
