REWIRE engagements across the community – Q2 2025

Friday, 20th June 2025 | News

The REWIRE team have been extremely busy over the past few months getting the word out about the amazing research and innovation projects that are taking place across the IKC – here are just a few highlights.

PCIM 2025

REWIRE’s first international expo! We were showcasing the IKC as part of the ECPE Newcomer stand and it was an amazing experience, speaking to different global players about their interests in REWIRE use cases.

Alongside our stand, we had REWIRE researchers Arne Benjamin Renz, Abdul Haleem Malik from Warwick and Sai Charan Vanjari from Bristol presenting on their world-leading power electronics research in SiC and Ga2O3, respectively. Overall, a very busy but fruitful few days in Nuremberg!

CSMANTECH 2025

A cohort of the REWIRE team from the University of Bristol descended on New Orleans to attend the International Conference on Compound Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology, which has been serving the compound semiconductor manufacturing industry for nearly 4 decades.

With talks and presentations from REWIRE researchers Chengzhi Zhang, Zeina Abdallah, Khai Ngo, Sai Charan Vanjari, Ananthu Vijayan V L and Aditya Bhat K across a wide range of power semiconductor-related topics, CSMANTECH was a great vehicle to showcase the impactful and world-leading research capabilities that we have at the University of Bristol and REWIRE.

JETRO UK-Japan Semiconductor Meetup – Connecting Innovators

Building on the growing international momentum behind semiconductors and the need for collaboration across borders, REWIRE was part of a meetup hosted by the UK branch of the Japanese External Trade Organisation. Aligned with London Tech Week, the event brought together innovators, startups, global corporates, VCs, ecosystem builders, and academia to foster networking and engagement opportunities between the UK and Japan semiconductor sectors.

REWIRE’s Innovation Director Dr. Katie Hore participated in a panel discussion focusing on global collaboration, innovation, and the future of semiconductors alongside other fantastic panelists from Japan and the UK.

it was a fantastic event latest Japanese semiconductor ecosystem and we look forward to working more with JETRO and Japanese semiconductor leaders in the future!

Pint of Science Festival

Who doesn’t want to learn about science whilst also having a delicious pint of craft beer?! REWIRE’s Innovation Director Dr. Katie Hore was one of two presenters at the Pint of Science Festival in Bristol in May 2025 at the Left Handed Giant Taproom.

To a thoroughly engaged audience, Katie presented about:

  • what semiconductors are, how they work, and why we need to go beyond traditional silicon semiconductors to reach net zero
  • how new materials like silicon carbide and gallium nitride are making phones charge faster, EVs go farther, and renewable energy more reliable.
  • a behind-the-scenes look at how these devices are made—and hear my story of working in this fascinating field.

Pint of Science is a grassroots non-profit organisation whose annual festival aims to deliver the latest scientific research to people in a fun and engaging way – mainly in pubs, cafes and spaces every May. They provide a platform for scientists to share and discuss their research, and for people to find out about the fascinating discoveries happening in their local town or city. As of 2025, Pint of Science is now in over 25 countries and 500 cities!
