Industry use cases

The Foundations of REWIRE
The REWIRE Innovation and Knowledge Centre is based on the co-developed industry use cases that address current and future market needs across the semiconductor supply chain.

What is a use case?

A Use Case is a well scoped project (or set of projects) on a focused subject area, informed by the needs of Industry. Use Cases are not static: they will be constantly reviewed, updated, added to and closed out, informed by the developing requirements of Industry.

End products

A Use Case must lead to an end product which will contribute (in the short or long term) to the semiconductor economy of the UK.

Examples of an end product include:

  • a resource for Industry (e.g. a database or a demonstrator)
  • a solution to an issue or a device improvement i.e IP (potential patent or piece of open IP)
  • in the case of low TRL level technologies, a proof-of-concept device such as a new device or device simulation etc.

Our partnership models will include preferential access to resources and IP for centre partners. Within Use Cases there is scope for industry (part-)funded projects focused on solving a particular challenge and/or creating IP, using an appropriate IP ownership model.

Use case evolution

REWIRE use cases are not static and are constantly evolving based on the engagement we have with external partners and the ever-changing needs of industry. They will be regularly reviewed, updated, added to and closed out depending on these needs.

Industry use cases

There is scope within REWIRE for small or large industry-funded projects focused on solving a particular problem or challenge, which can be aligned to existing use cases or as part of a bespoke use case. For these, please get in touch directly with the REWIRE IKC to discuss what options may be available.
