Dr David Wallis, University of Cambridge

Dr David Wallis joined the University of Cambridge in 2011, where he focuses on developing wide bandgap devices on large-area substrates. Previously, he was the technical lead for materials activities and transistor projects at QinetiQ , which successfully advanced high-power transistors and high-brightness LEDs on large-area substrates. His work addresses key materials challenges, such as high defect densities and strain control, facilitating the commercial viability of these technologies.

Dr Wallis has also developed new wafer characterisation techniques and collaborated with industry partners to support the commercial development of innovative materials.
