Prof Florin Udrea, University of Cambridge

Prof Florin Udrea is professor of semiconductor engineering and head of the High Voltage Microelectronics and Sensors Laboratory at the University of Cambridge. He leads a research group recognised internationally for its work in power semiconductor devices and solid-state sensors and has published over 550 papers and holds more than 150 patents related to his inventions in these fields.
Prof Udrea founded five companies, including Cambridge GaN Devices and Flusso, both of which have made significant contributions to their industries and received multiple awards. He has been recognised for his impact on engineering with the Silver Medal from the Royal Academy of Engineering, election as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, the prestigious Mullard Medal from the Royal Society, and being named “Academic Entrepreneur of the Year” by Business Weekly in 2021.
